Our Story

Launched in 2016, Braver Angels is a national citizens’ movement bringing liberals, conservatives and others together at the grassroots level — not to find centrist compromise, but to find one another as citizens. Through workshops, debates, and campus engagement, Braver Angels is helping Americans understand each other beyond stereotypes, form community alliances, and reduce the vitriol that poisons our civic culture.

Hear what some fellow Americans had to say after participating in a Braver Angels workshop.

In surveys of those who've attended our Skills for Bridging the Divide workshop: 86% feel they can set a constructive tone when starting conversations with those of the other political side; 88% feel confident in expressing views so the other side can hear them; and 94% believe they can listen so those on the other side feel heard.

The CT Alliance

Braver Angels Alliances are local groups of people who have participated in a Braver Angels workshop, have become dues-paying members, and want to keep the conversation going and find common ground. Alliances have at least one red co-chair and one blue co-chair and prioritize having no more than a 60/40 split in red and blue membership. There can also be members who see themselves as true independents who do not lean red or blue.

Members of the Braver Angels Connecticut Alliance participate in and contribute to national Braver Angels activities and also organize local activities for citizens of Connecticut and beyond. Braver Angels events are free and most are open to non-members as well.*

*If you join Braver Angels (for as little as $12/year) and live in Connecticut, you’ll automatically become a member of the local Alliance. Apart from supporting a great organization, members enjoy benefits like free eLearning Courses, special events, volunteer opportunities, and more.
